Authorities say they’re close to arresting driver in hit-and-run that injured three nurses, one critically, at Penn Presbyterian

WEST PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Law enforcement sources with knowledge of the ongoing investigation tell KYW they are “very close” to making an arrest of the suspected driver who hit three nurses tending to a shooting victim outside Penn Presbyterian hospital over the weekend.

It was around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday when police say a Silver Jeep Grand Cherokee dropped off a 28-year-old outside the hospital who had been shot multiple times.

Police say then three nurses rushed out with a stretcher to tend to the victim when the driver of the Jeep ran over all four on the road.

A 36-year-old nurse was the most hurt, suffering from severe facial injuries and internal bleeding. They’re in critical condition, but expected to survive. A 51 and 37-year-old nurse were also injured, but immediately listed in stable condition. Police believe the shooting victim also suffered an additional injury to their head.

The Jeep, which had an out-of-state license plate, was found about four miles away from the hospital along Walnut Park Drive in Upper Darby.
