Nashville police arrest two after deadly Jefferson Street shooting

Metro Nashville Police arrested two men after what the department said was a beef between members of two gangs that ended in the death of one man and injuries to nine others during a celebration on Jefferson Street.

Officers arrested Marquez Davis and DeAnthony Brown, both 24, Monday night at a short-term rental on 26th Avenue North, a street over from where the shooting happened Saturday night at the intersection of 27th Avenue North and Jefferson Street.

Both men are charged with criminal homicide.

Tennessee State University’s Homecoming parade marched down Jefferson Street hours before there was gunfire. Most people had left the area to go watch the university’s football game for the 5 p.m. kickoff, though some celebrations remained on Jefferson Street.
