Fall weather is on the way as Arizona’s record-breaking heat streak comes to a close

The seemingly endless summer is finally yielding to autumn, with next week’s forecast predicting temperatures below 100 degrees.

Monday’s record-breaking high of 103 degrees marks the last triple-digit day of the month.

Phoenix endured 21 consecutive days of scorching temperatures above 100 degrees, shattering records along the way. However, the streak was set to end on Tuesday, with a forecasted high of 96 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday would continue the cooling trend, with highs of 97 and 93 degrees, respectively.

The weekend was expected to bring even more relief, as Friday is expected to reach a much cooler high of just 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

There was a 40% chance of rain on Friday, according to Mark O’Malley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Earlier in the month, Phoenix saw record-breaking highs of 113 degrees on both Oct. 1 and Oct. 6, with daily temperatures fluctuating no more than 10 degrees. September followed a similar pattern, reaching a scorching 117 degrees on Sept. 28, with most days staying near 100 degrees. Only six days in September saw highs drop into the 90s.
