Firefighters put out west Tulsa house fire

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department put out a house fire in west Tulsa Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say a person inside the house near Admiral and 49th West Avenue turned on a heater and heard an electrical pop.

Smoke was coming from the attic of the house.

The one person inside the house made it out with no injuries, firefighters say.

Firefighters remind people to take precautions when turning heaters on as the cold temperatures start.

“Make sure your filters are clean when you turn them on around the house,” said Chief Jason Gilkison. “Make sure that everything is working the way it should. I recommend somebody come and check out your heaters before you turn them on.”

Firefighters said there was damage to the house in the attic.
