Kalamazoo police start gun amnesty program

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced its new Gun Amnesty Program in an effort to reduce gun-related violence.

The program gives residents a secure and anonymous way to get rid of unwanted firearms, regardless of their type, make, model, caliber or condition, according to KDPS.

“The Gun Amnesty Program promotes collaboration between law enforcement and local organizations, reflecting a shared commitment to public safety. Together, we aim to create a safer Kalamazoo for everyone,” KDPS said on its website.
