These New Mexico breweries won awards at the Great American Beer Festival

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Great American Beer Festival wrapped up in Denver, CO on October 11, and some New Mexico breweries took home some medals. Albuquerque’s Tractor Brewing, Boxing Bear Brewing, and Quarter Celtic Brewpub shined bright among the 300 entries.

The competition was broken down by category and in the Sweet Stout or Cream Stout Category, New Mexico breweries almost dominated. Tractor Brewing won gold with their Mustachio Milk Stout and Boxing Bear’s Chocolate Milk Stout took home the silver. Brink Brewing in Cincinnati, OH’s Moozie won the bronze in that category.

Quarter Celtic’s Vienna Fest Bier took home the gold in the Vienna-Style Lager category. They beat out Morgan Territory Brewing’s Metalmark Marzen from Tracy, CA, and the Bonesaw Brewing Co. concoction Red Dawn from Glassboro, NJ.

Along with individual beers competing, breweries were also awarded “Brewer of the Year” awards based on the number of barrels brewed. There were also awards given to brewery group brewery and brewer of the year, cidermaker of the year, and winners of a collaboration competition.
