Border Crisis a Key Issue for Hispanic Voters

A recent poll shows that a majority of Hispanic voters (60%) believe there is a migrant crisis at the US-Mexico border. This belief is shared across party lines, with even 46% of Democrats acknowledging the issue. Republican Hispanics are particularly concerned, with 91% believing there is a crisis.

Trump’s Appeal to Hispanic Voters

Despite the general concern about the border, Trump has a strong lead among Hispanic independent voters (19%). Independent voters make up 31% of the Hispanic electorate, and this divide could potentially swing the overall Hispanic vote towards Republicans.

Harris’s Stance on Immigration

Harris is the preferred candidate among Hispanic voters overall, with 62% of the vote. However, rural Hispanic voters favor Trump (47%), while suburban and urban Hispanic voters support Harris (34% and 22%, respectively).

Importance of Immigration Policy

Immigration policy is a top priority for many Hispanic voters. Half of all Hispanics (51%) say it will be very or extremely important in their decision. Republican Hispanics are most likely to prioritize immigration (69%), but it is also important for Democrats and independents.

Despite the focus on immigration, the economy remains the most important issue for four in ten Hispanic voters, similar to national trends. Healthcare is also a concern for 20% of Hispanic voters, particularly those who rely on Medicaid and CHIP.
