Deadly Campsite Murder in Montana
A murder investigation is underway in Montana after a man’s body was found in a tent believed to have been attacked by a bear. However, authorities later discovered the victim, 35-year-old Dustin Kjersem, had suffered multiple fatal wounds.
Initial Suspicion of Bear Attack
A friend reported finding Kjersem’s body on Saturday, initially suggesting a bear attack. However, a wildlife agency found no evidence of bear activity.
Evidence of Homicide
Investigators uncovered signs of a “vicious attack” and determined the death was a homicide. Kjersem’s autopsy revealed multiple chop wounds, including to his skull.
Investigation Challenges
The remote location and lack of cellphone service are hindering the investigation. No suspects have been identified.
Public Caution Urged
Authorities urge residents to be vigilant as the killer remains at large. Kjersem was last seen driving a black Ford F-150 with a silver ladder rack.

Kjersem’s sister, Jillian Price, appealed to the community for assistance in finding the responsible individual. She described her brother as a skilled tradesman and loving father.
