Mets’ Dream Season Faces Bleak Outlook

The New York Mets’ playoff hopes are dwindling after a 10-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS. The Dodgers now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.

Despite going 67-40 down the stretch to qualify for the playoffs, the Mets have been outmatched by the Dodgers’ superior firepower, patience, and talent. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Max Muncy have been particularly impressive, while the Dodgers’ pitching staff has been dominant.

The Dodgers’ latest win gives them a 7-1 record against the Mets since May, outscoring them 58-12. The Mets’ only starter to last more than five innings was Jose Quintana, who gave up five runs in just 3 ⅔ innings.

Manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged the challenge, stating, “That’s a good team right there. That’s a really good team.” The Dodgers’ dominance has put the Mets’ playoff hopes in jeopardy.
