Cross Bronx Expressway experiences severe delays after fuel spill

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A fuel spill led to severe delays on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Friday morning.

It happened near exit 5B, which is the Castle Hill Avenue exit, around 4:30 a.m., according to the FDNY. A tanker was leaking diesel fuel, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported. Traffic in the eastbound lanes was reduced to one lane near the spill.

The severe delays on the Cross Bronx Expressway also caused backups on the George Washington Bridge.
