FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A family is lucky to be alive after a tornado during Hurricane Milton tore through their home.
One of their family members was left hospitalized, and their home was destroyed.

Since 1958, resident Robert Haight and his family have lived in their Fort Myers home.
Ahead of Hurricane Milton, Robert, his father, his 9-year-old daughter, and his pregnant wife of eight months were all hunkered down to ride out the storm.
In a swirling funnel, Robert described how his neighbor’s truck spun around 180 degrees in the wind.
“I look out the window and… I saw the swirl, and I saw it jump, and it jump right down by that big jump vine on top of that tree,” Robert told NBC affiliate WBBH .
That’s when Robert got his family to safety— running into his daughter’s room for cover, as the tornado wrecked their home.
“I said, sorry, baby. Go, go, go. And I’m there. I put my wife down there and I ran back to him and I didn’t even stop. I didn’t have time to stop.”
