DUI suspect indicted in deadly Woonsocket crash

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Woonsocket man accused of driving while intoxicated and causing a crash that killed one person and injured two others is due back in court next week to face felony charges.

Samuel Adams, 46, was arrested after the two-car crash on the night of March 30. Police said he hit another vehicle at the intersection of Bernon and Maple streets.

That vehicle had a 64-year-old woman driving, a 25-year-old man in the front passenger seat and a 71-year-old man in the back seat.

The back-seat passenger, Charles Bagley, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police. The driver and front-seat passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Providence County Grand Jury handed up an indictment charging Adams with driving under the influence resulting in death and driving so as to endanger resulting in death, along with two counts each of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury and driving so as to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, the R.I. Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday.
