Georgia Receives Great News Ahead of Texas Game

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns (6-0) will welcome the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) on Saturday for one of the biggest matchups of the college football season.

The winner will be in the driver’s seat for the top spot in the College Football Playoff and move closer to an opportunity to play in the SEC Championship Game.

This will be the second top-five road matchup for Kirby Smart’s Dawgs after taking on previously No. 4 ranked Alabama in September. Georgia’s tough slate is obviously the main focus of Smart and the UGA coaching staff, yet recruiting efforts have not taken a step back.

Georgia landed a commitment from five-star recruit Elijah Griffin, the nation’s No. 1 defensive lineman, on Friday. According to 247Sports , Griffin is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the class of 2025.

The Bulldogs have been working on a pledge from Griffin (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) for a long time. The Savannah, Georgia, native’s final decision came down to Georgia, Miami or USC before making his pledge to UGA after visiting Athens earlier this week.
