Shooting in Melrose district: police investigate

At least one person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition after reports of shots being fired Friday in the Melrose area.

Officers responded to the 4200 block of Beverly Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Friday regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took at least one man in his 20s to the hospital with a facial gunshot wound, but the extent of the injuries remains unknown.

It was unclear what motivated the shooting.

Detectives were conducting an ongoing investigation Friday evening and identified four men as possible suspects.
