New center in Wellington will support communities devastated by Milton-spawned tornadoes

A new center in Wellington will offer the public help after nearby communities were left devastated by tornadoes spawned by Hurricane Milton.

Palm Beach County and the Florida Division of Emergency Management have set up the center, which will open for the first time Saturday, Oct. 19. It is located at 11700 Pierson Road in Village Park Gym Room 1B. It will have federal, state and local-level staff and resources available, such as FEMA aid application assistance.

The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is open to individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits seeking assistance or needing help in completing applications after being affected by Milton and the tornadoes.

Agencies who were invited to the center that people can get help from include Veteran Affairs, Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Hope Florida, Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Office of Insurance Regulation and Elder Affairs.
