Former Hinds County supervisor continues to fight election loss

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A former Hinds County supervisor is still fighting his election loss from 2023.

On the steps of the Hinds County Courthouse, David Archie gave an update into an investigation into alleged election irregularities.

Court rules in favor of former Hinds County supervisor

Archie lost the race to Tony Smith in last year’s Democratic primary. The main concern brought up on Friday by Archie and his supporters was the chain of custody of the ballots.

“We also found boxes in David’s election that had not been sealed, along with many other laws broken chain of custody is so important, because it’s all about securing the election. If chain of custody is broken, that means that that ballot box is unsealed from the precinct to the courthouse,” said Taylor Turcotte, one of Archie’s supporters.

The former supervisor is waiting on a court date to determine if he appealed the election loss in time. If the judge rules in his favor, there will be another hearing on the merits of his election allegations.
