The group meets 4-5 p.m. every Monday, and the ages range from 13 to 18.

Windsor says the watch party is centered around Japanese cultural appreciation. The teens watch and discuss anime on the library’s television, look at manga and learn about Japanese snacks and culture.

“The program that we started a little over a year and a half ago, and it has been super fun for the kids,” Windsor said. “Typically, the kids come in, and we either watch a regular series that we keep up with or switch things up and try different series or even multiple parts of a film.”

Windsor is an illustrator, and he was inspired to start the anime watch series as a teen program because of his love for anime and manga while growing up.

“My goal from the very beginning was to create space for those who are inclined to express themselves artistically to have an avenue,” Windsor said.
