The Queen Creek Unified School District is committed to preparing its students not just for academic success, but also for life after graduation.
Eastmark High School’s Bird’s Nest store is a perfect example of how the district provides students with the tools, experiences and opportunities they need to thrive in the real world.
This student-led store at the Mesa school, stocked with drinks and snacks, is an integral part of the district’s CTE (Career and technical education) program. Led by Eastmark marketing teacher and DECA adviser Frank Norris, the store has become a hands-on learning environment where students can apply the skills they’ve developed in the classroom to real-world situations.
By taking ownership of every aspect of the store’s operations — from inventory to customer service — students gain valuable insights into business management, finance and leadership. This type of experiential learning allows students to see the direct connection between what they study and the practical skills they will need for future success.
