Area tennis stars took to the WIAA Individual State Tennis tournament in Madison.
Kate Fortney (Aquinas) made a run to the championship match where she faced off with Kylie Matz (Brookfield Academy).
Fortney and Matz would go back and fourth, but Matz would earn almost every big point as she would win in 2 sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Fortney finishes the tournament in second place, but she wont be done competing as the Aquinas Blugolds will compete at team state starting on October 25th.
West Salem’s Megan Johnson would finish in 6th place.
