Construction project will cut off California bridge bike lane during busy weekend

Starting tonight, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge will see temporary bike lane closures for routine maintenance. From 9 PM to 5 AM on Sunday, October 20, cyclists will not have access to the bike lane due to a monthly wall move and bridge sweep.

Additional closures will take place during the day from Tuesday, October 22, to Thursday, October 24, between 7:30 AM and 2 PM. These daytime closures are necessary for electrical work on the bike lane lights.

For those affected by the closures, shuttle services will be available at the Stenmark Drive Bridge entrance and Vista Point in San Rafael, providing alternative transportation options. Cyclists are advised to pay attention to speed limit signs, which will be set to 40 mph in construction zones.

Caltrans encourages all travelers to plan ahead, stay safe, and enjoy their rides despite the temporary inconveniences.
