The Denver Police Department has launched a shooting investigation for the death of a man on East Colfax Avenue early Sunday morning.
Police officials reported the shooting on social media platform X around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
The shooting happened near the Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street, just east of downtown, according to police. The intersection is blocks away from East High School and City Park.
In its X posting, police said they responded to a call of shots fired and pronounced the man dead on-scene.
Authorities are investigating the shooting as a homicide, police said.
