Navy Jet Crashes in Washington, Two Pilots Dead

Tragically, the U.S. Navy has confirmed the deaths of two aviators following the crash of an EA-18G Growler jet during a training mission on October 15th in northeastern Washington.

The search-and-rescue operation has transitioned into a recovery effort, with the focus now on locating the deceased aviators’ remains. The names of the victims will be released once their families have been notified.

Wreckage from the jet was discovered on a mountainside near Mount Rainier on Wednesday afternoon. The Navy has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The Growler, valued at $67 million, is a highly advanced aircraft designed for electronic warfare. The Zappers squadron, to which the jet belonged, recently returned from a deployment in the Southern Red Sea where they carried out strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
