Tragedy has struck the US Navy as the remains of two crew members have been recovered from a crashed EA-18G Growler jet near Mount Rainier.

The jet, carrying two crew members, crashed during a routine training flight on Tuesday. The wreckage was located on Wednesday after an extensive search.

Cmdr. Timothy Warburton, commanding officer of the squadron, expressed his condolences and emphasized the priority of supporting the families of the deceased.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. The jet was part of Electronic Attack Squadron 130, known for its electronic warfare capabilities.

The incident occurred amidst challenging terrain and weather conditions near Mount Rainier, an active volcano. The search crews faced remote areas and adverse conditions.

Previously, in December, a Navy surveillance plane had an accident in Hawaii, but all nine aboard escaped unharmed.
