New Orleans Saints showing interest in two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver after recent injuries

The New Orleans Saints are not simply giving up after losing five games in a row. Their front office is attempting to add talent on offense, albeit from free agency.

A veteran wide receiver was recently cut loose from an AFC team, so the Saints are trying to take advantage of an intriguing opportunity.

Saints hosting veteran WR on visit

New Orleans is hosting Marques Valdes-Scantling on a visit/workout on Sunday evening, according to Ian Rapoport.

If the meeting and workout both go smoothly, an agreement would soon follow for the Saints and the wideout.

There’s mutual interest after MVS was released by the Buffalo Bills last week. They traded for veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper and felt that they could move on from the two-time Super Bowl champ with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Valdes-Scantling has long been respected for his downfield ability. He’s a tall target, looming at 6’4″ and is a thirty years old. At this point of his NFL career, he is simply a depth option.

New Orleans needs more of that, though. It will be tough for them to find a legitimate, high upside option in a trade for the right price, and they just lost Rashid Shaheed for the rest of the season.
