Prince of Peace Knights support St. Mary’s Food Bank

The Prince of Peace Knights of Columbus Council 17893 presented a donation check to John Drake of the St. Mary’s Food Bank during the Sept. 28 council meeting.

Drake briefed the council on many aspects of the food bank. He addressed the beginning and expanded upon the history of the food bank’s growth, to its current day operations across both the metro Phoenix and state-wide areas, as it serves over a quarter of a million meals daily. St. Mary’s partners with many other agencies.

Drake said with every dollar donated, the food bank is able to prepare and distribute five meals to people in need. The food bank is always in need of volunteers and accepts donations. St. Mary’s has a Neighborhood Food Center at 13050 W. Elm.

Knights Council 17893 members raise funds to make donations to various local nonprofits and charities and is now in preparations for the third Spring Charity Golf Tournament Saturday, April 5, at Deer Valley Golf Course, 13975 Deer Valley Road. The Knights are also engaged in supporting the Queen of Peace Women’s Guild Fall Bazaar Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Prince of Peace Parish Hall, 14818 Deer Valley Road. Both of these events are the major annual fund raising activities for these two organizations. Visit popscw.org for more information.
