Body of 11-year-old boy reported missing from Eden Prairie is found in pond

The body believed to belong to an 11-year-old boy reported missing from Eden Prairie was found in a pond near his home Sunday evening.

Eden Prairie PD confirmed that the body matches the description of Mohammed Mohammed, a nonverbal boy with autism who was last seen around 5:15 p.m.

The boy was found in a pond close to his home at around 9:30 p.m., with Eden Prairie announcing the discovery “with heavy hearts.”

“We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Mohamed during this incredibly difficult time,” the police department said. “We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the search efforts.”

The search for Mohammed has been discontinued following the discovery. The incident remains under investigation by police along with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol and Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
