University of Oklahoma head football coach Brent Venables announced on Sunday that there has been a change to the offensive coaching staff. Seth Littrell has been relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Joe Jon Finley will step up as the interim co-offensive coordinator and take on primary play-calling responsibilities, while Kevin Johns, currently a senior offensive analyst, will be promoted to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Venables expressed his appreciation for Littrell, acknowledging his dedication to the university and the football program, but noted that the offensive performance this season has not met expectations.
In a press release from OU, Venables is quoted saying, “Seth is an all-time great Sooner. He has a deep love for this university and football program, and has poured his heart and soul into both. Despite that, our performance as an offense this season has not at all lived up to the OU standard and I felt a change was necessary now.”
