Authors write book that could help kids cope with mom’s battles with cancer

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgette D. Jackson and Marcus A. Jackson are authors of the book, “I’m Sad Too… And It’s Okay”, which may help ease the mourning of the loss of a parent.

The book is about Marcus, a ten-year-old boy who lost his mom after a year’s battle with cervical cancer. He shares some of his innermost thoughts and feelings he had after she passed.

According to the American Cancer Society , by the end of 2024 about 13,820 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed and about 4,360 women will die from it. Cervical cancer is most frequently diagnosed in women between the ages of 35 and 44, with the average age being 50. It rarely develops in women younger than 20.
