Dallas Fire-Rescue mourns an officer who died off-duty

Sad news to share with you from Dallas Fire-Rescue. A firefighter has passed away. We don’t know how, but the department tells us Jose Chavez was off duty when he died.

He was a firefighter and paramedic for seven years, and it was just last year he was one of several firefighters recognized for saving a man who was trapped in the second story of a burning home. Dallas Fire-Rescue says Chavez served the city selflessly and will be missed by many.
