FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – The Veterans National War Memorial Shrine and Museum honored a Civil War nurse on Saturday. Eliza E. George was also known as “Mother George” and Fort Wayne’s “Angel of Mercy.” She joined the state’s regiments throughout the Civil War.
