Fresno firefighters extinguish fire at vacant building

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Fresno Fire Department firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a vacant building Monday morning.

Firefighters say that just before 7 a.m. on Monday, contractors were arriving at work when they reported smoke coming from the building they were scheduled to work on.

According to crews, upon arrival, firefighters were told that unhoused individuals may still be in the building and began searching for possible victims.

Firefighters say the individuals had already gotten out and there were no reported injuries.

There was minor damage to the structure as crews quickly extinguished the fire.

The fire department did not say the exact location of this incident.

The Fresno Fire Department says that this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting suspicious activity, even in vacant buildings.
