APD: Juvenile dead in homicide at northeast Austin apartment complex

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A girl is dead after a homicide in northeast Austin Monday, Austin Police Department Officer Austin Zarling said during a media briefing.

At approximately 6:01 p.m., officers responded to The Bridge at Harris Ridge Apartments at 1501 E. Howard Lane — near Dessau Road — for a report of someone who was shot, Zarling said.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found “a Black female juvenile with apparent trauma to the body,” Zarling said. He said Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Fire Department arrived on the scene first and “provided medical aid” to the girl. However, she was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m., according to police.
