Bond set for man accused in domestic violence-related homicide

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Bond has been set for the man accused of killing a woman in the Seabrook neighborhood on Oct. 15.

35-year-old Eric Christopher Gentris was arrested on Oct. 16 in connection to the shooting death of 25-year-old Katelyn Howard.

Decomposed body found in Mid-City classified a homicide

An investigation done by the New Orleans Police Department revealed the incident was the result of a domestic violence incident.

At 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, officers responded to the 6200 block of Bridgehampton Drive on a report of shots fired in the area. When they arrived Howard was found unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound following a dispute between the two.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Further investigation led detectives to identify Gentris as a suspect who had fled the scene with his 4-year-old daughter. He was later found in Lafayette, arrested and booked as a fugitive for the murder.
