New affordable senior housing opens in east Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Like many seniors in the Las Vegas valley, Diana Fields is on a fixed income and she recently moved into Tempo IV senior apartments in September.

She didn’t know what options we’re available for seniors until her son-in-law recommended the apartment.

“It’s affordable housing but it’s like living in a resort,” Fields explained. “My unit including all utilities is $1,285. I was paying that at another location that was probably 40 years old and had not been maintained well. I really feel I have my forever home.”

Fields said while saving money is a big factor, it’s the community and amenities that caught her eye. Equipped with a gym, a big pool, a computer room, and a garden, she said these free amenities bring comfort and joy.

“If you have an issue, they take care of it and everyone has been so kind and respectful and when you’re a senior you get pushed to the side sometimes,” Fields remarked. “They treat us with respect here.”

It’s why Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said the quality of housing is just as important.
