11 shootings in last month in Portsmouth, including 3 Sunday

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Eleven shootings.

Over the past month in Portsmouth, the city has seen 11 shootings — three that happened on Sunday alone, and multiple videos show an apparent victim and others ducking for cover in the first of the weekend shootings, around 2:40 a.m. Sunday on High Street.

Overnight shooting leaves man seriously injured in Portsmouth

Later in the afternoon, another shooting took place on Victory Boulevard around 1 p.m.

The last reported shooting Sunday took place on Jefferson Street around 5:30 p.m. In that shooting, one man died and two other people were injured after suffering gunshot wounds.

The sounds of High Street shooting were caught on someone’s dash camera — additional videos showed other angles.

Twelve shots rung out on the footage captured by a dash camera. Shortly after, a man can be seen walking toward the hood of the car with a gun in hand.

After falling onto the hood of the car, which was parked in front of the Lobscouser restaurant on High Street, two men approached the victim, taking the gun and patting the victim down.
