Charles Pickett, The Chief of campus police says the department is staffed with sworn in officers who have full arrest powers. These officers patrol all three of the college campuses and 500 feet around each campus to ensure the safety of faculty and students during class hours.

Pickett says at any given time officers are in every building and at every campus. He requires all officers to engage with students and talk with staff to develop relationships. This allows for the department to be more proactive in keeping the camping safe.

Columbus Technical College has strategies that allow the department to become aware of safety concerns.

The College has in place different reporting systems where people can report things anonymously as well as if they want to give us their information so we can follow up with them. ” Pickett says.
