Two South Dakota Department of Revenue employees have been indicted in relation to a government corruption case.
Grand jury indictments were filed Oct. 1 in Hughes County against Danielle Degenstein, a senior revenue agent in the department, and Lynne Hunsley, a former revenue supervisor who was placed on administrative leave by the DOR in August. Those indictments are sealed as of Wednesday morning.
Attorney General Marty Jackley plans to hold a press conference about the DOR investigation 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center.
Court records show Hunsley faces a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges dated Jan. 1, 2021.
Her charges include:
- Forgery, a class five felony;
- Altering or forging a certificate of a title, a class five felony;
- Making a false statement in applying for a title, a class five felony;
- Grand theft involving more than $1,000 and less than $2,500, a class six felony;
- Filing false or forged instrument, a class six felony;
- Falsification of public records by a public officer; a class one misdemeanor;
- And failure to pay full amount of excise tax, a class one misdemeanor.
