Central Point man sentenced to 22 years in prison for 4 Salem shootings

Marion County Circuit Court Judge James Edmonds sentenced a man earlier this month to 22 years and 9 months in prison for his involvement in four shootings in the Salem area.

Kenneth Felton, 28, was sentenced on Oct. 11 as a result of a plea entered on May 3, according to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office. According to a press release, Felton pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder with a firearm, assault in the first degree with a firearm, assault II constituting domestic violence and felon in possession of a firearm.

Salem Police arrested Felton on May 23, 2022, for his role in three separate shootings on three separate days.

According to the district attorney’s office and previous news releases, Felton first shot a man as he attempted to flee at a northeast Salem apartment complex in the late hours of Dec. 27, 2021.

A second shooting occurred in “broad daylight” on Dec. 30, 2021, at the intersection of Pine and Broadway streets NE. The victim was shot several times in his leg and knee area, and a witness later identified Felton as the shooter, according to the district attorney’s release.
