Gradual warmup through midweek with dry skies for the Beehive State

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Happy Monday, Utah! It’s a calm weather day across the state as high pressure is setting up over the Great Basin, bringing mostly clear skies and dry conditions. Temps are warming up, about 5° above normal today. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 60s for northern Utah this afternoon with upper 60s to mid 70s in southern Utah.

A storm approaching the northwest will start flattening the ridge tonight into Tuesday, but it won’t change much, just a steady warmup through midweek. High pressure will keep things dry and mild into Wednesday, with temps 10-15° above normal. A quick cold front will sweep through Wednesday night into Thursday, cooling things down a bit in the north, with little to no chance of any showers.

The ridge rebounds Friday and Saturday, bringing back the dry, warm weather. By Sunday, a new trough could form over the Pacific Northwest, but for now, it looks like we’ll just get some southwest winds and another mild day. There’s potential for a bigger shift if the trough deepens and moves inland. We could see a cold front sometime between Monday and midweek, but details are still uncertain. Most models suggest a stronger system with cooler, wetter conditions early next week. Stay tuned!
