Police standoff in Fresno after bullet fired through ceiling

FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – The Fresno Police Department surrounded a northeast Fresno apartment complex Tuesday morning after witnesses reported a shooting through their ceiling.

The apartment complex is at Fresno Street and San Jose Avenue in central Fresno.

Police say around 10:15 p.m. on Monday dispatch received a 911 call from residents living in a downstairs apartment that the neighbor above them fired a gunshot, and the bullet then traveled through their ceiling.

The Fresno Police Crisis Negotiations Unit tried to contact the person in the upstairs apartment but no one responded. At around 7 a.m. police said they are leaving the area.

No injuries were reported.
