Advocates for homeless rail against Englewood City Council

A pair of advocates for people experiencing homelessness blasted members of the Englewood City Council Monday saying they despise homeless people and treat them horribly.

Regan Benson and her husband recently won a $130,000 settlement from the City of Denver after police retaliated against them for recording police with her cell phone. She gave the Englewood council dais a double-fingered bird Monday, flipping them off with both hands. She refused to state the city where she lives, repeating “Utopia” when Mayor Othoniel Sierra asked her where she was from.

“You all proud of yourselves,” Benson said. “If any of you in the room don’t know they issued a warrant for my arrest.” Benson said the warrant was issued after she spoke at a public meeting.

“Do you see what’s going on here in Englewood?” Benson asked. “They hate the homeless. They hate anyone who is suffering. They hate anyone with mental health issues. They hate them all. They want them gone and anyone else who will speak with them or represent them.”
