Christopher C. Brown, 47, of Cordova, Tennessee, was sentenced on October 17, 2024, to 27 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for his role in a multi-year scheme to defraud four insurance companies. Brown was also ordered to pay $5.2 million in restitution, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee announced Monday.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, while operating a music recording business in Memphis, Brown submitted claims to Main Street Assurance Company for alleged losses of over $340,000, citing water damage and a burglary at the business.
The department states that Main Street paid these claims.
Brown then obtained insurance from Markel Corporation for the same business location and later filed a $2.8 million claim for alleged fire damage, which was also honored, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The department reports that Brown later formed Tattooed Millionaire Entertainment (TME), a limited liability corporation that allowed him to apply for new insurance coverage without disclosing his previous claims.
