Man Accused of Theft from a Towing Service after Train Collision

Tyrone Allen, 32, of Clearwater, Florida, is accused of driving off with the tractor after his trailer had been hit by a train in order to avoid paying a towing service on Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Humphries Hill Road and Spring Street in Austell, according to an arrest warrant from the Austell Police Department.

Allen operated a tractor trailer that became stuck at the railroad crossing and a train then hit his trailer. Barrows Tow Service arrived to first remove the trailer. Then as the towing service was preparing to remove the tractor from the scene and tow it to their tow yard, Allen entered his tractor, started the engine and drove away to avoid payment of approximately $10,000. He was found by police operating the tractor approximately six miles away from the scene of the accident, according to the warrant.

Allen is charged with theft of services greater than $1,500. He was arrested on Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
