Lions Gets Last Word On ‘Classless’ Cowboys Fan Chris Christie

FRISCO – The Detroit Lions, led by coach Dan Campbell, recently won the battle in their meeting here in his native Texas against the Dallas Cowboys. And the colorful coach is now also winning a “war of words” with Cowboys celebrity fan Chris Christie.

Christie, the former governor of New Jersey and presidential candidate, recently called Campbell “classless” with the aggressive way he coached the Lions earlier this month in a blowout win at Dallas.

“That’s Dan Campbell. He’s got no class. Never has,” Christie said in reflection on the Lions’ assorted tricks included in their 47-9 victory at AT&T Stadium. “It’s fine. It’s fine. Look, Dan Campbell, that’s the way he is, and what goes around comes around.”

We viewed that angle at the time as sour grapes on the part of Cowboys fans Christie; the Lions won fair and square, and would’ve done so on that day without any chicanery. So … Campbell’s response?

“The last time I was called ‘classless,’ I was drinking wine out of a bottle,” the Lions head coach said with a grin.
