College Student Tracking Billionaires’ Jets Suspended From Threads

Additional Coverage:

College student Jack Sweeney, known for tracking private jet flights, has had his Threads accounts suspended by Meta. The company cited privacy concerns and the potential for physical harm as reasons.

Sweeney’s accounts, which tracked the jets of celebrities like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, were suspended without warning. Meta said the decision was made to protect individuals from potential risks.

Sweeney has previously faced backlash for his tracking, including legal threats from Musk and Taylor Swift. He started by sharing flight data on Twitter using bots and later expanded to Instagram and Threads.

Musk had once offered Sweeney money to stop sharing his flight information, but the student declined. Twitter later suspended Sweeney’s accounts, citing safety concerns.

Meta’s updated policies prohibit users from sharing others’ live locations. Sweeney has not yet responded to the suspension.
