Bronx residents head to Orchard Beach to enjoy 80s in October

Bronx residents flocked to Orchard Beach Tuesday to enjoy above-average temperatures. “You have to take advantage and make the most of it while you can,” said Andrew Rosario, of Castle Hill. “If you have the opportunity, go out and get some fresh air and enjoy it.” Dozens set up on the sand to soak in the sun. Some even sported swimsuits despite the calendar date. Some visitors from California were expecting very different conditions, but said they specifically came to explore the Bronx when they were handed this beautiful day. “I brought all my winter clothes,” said Tanya Aly, from the Bay Area. “My friends were all like, ‘you realize it’s going to be fall?’ And I’m like, ‘yeah!’ And they’re like, ‘OK, but it’ll be warm, but there will be a coldness in the air.’ No coldness in the air. This is amazing.” No matter how tempting the temperatures are, there is no swimming at all NYC beaches, as lifeguards are no longer on duty for the season. ”
