A police body camera captured the words a Colorado officer used to comfort a distressed young boy who ran away in Colorado.
The Colorado Springs Police Department got a call about a 9-year-old who ran away in extreme distress, according to local station KKTV . Officer Craig Johnson said the boy reportedly contemplated self-harm after a disturbance at home.
Video showed the moment Officer Craig Johnson found the boy at a nearby school in Colorado Springs and the interaction that followed. Johnson assured the boy that he was not in any trouble and the two shared a heartfelt conversation for around 45 minutes. Johnson even complimented the boy for acknowledging how he feels.

‘I’m really proud of you’
“I like you. You seem like a nice kid. Sometimes you feel a certain way,” Johnson said. “It makes me proud that you wanted to go get some help today because a lot of people need help and they don’t recognize it.
“I’m really proud of you,” Johnson told the boy.
