A Maryland man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison after fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and her mother and attempting to burn their baby to death, PEOPLE reports.
On Friday (October 18), Superior Court Judge Maribeth Raffinan handed down the sentence to 35-year-old Keanan Turner , who had been found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder while armed with aggravated circumstances, assault with intent to kill while armed, aggravated assault while armed, attempted first-degree murder of a minor, second-degree cruelty to children, arson and destruction of property.
Turner was also convicted of four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence and carrying a pistol without a license.
According to federal prosecutors, Turner asked his ex-girlfriend, Ebony Wright , to have an abortion after she informed him of her pregnancy. Turner stopped talking to Wright when she refused to have the procedure.
Wright later contacted Turner to file a custody and child support lawsuit against him, according to prosecutors. On August 21, 2021, Turner said he wanted to meet their child at Wright’s apartment in Washington D.C.
