15-year-old boy waives court appearance for King County homicide investigation that left 5 dead

KING COUNTY, Wash. — The 15-year-old boy arrested in connection with a homicide investigation in King County waived his right to appear in court Tuesday.

According to the King County Department of Public Defense, the court ordered the teen to be held in secure detention and have no contact with the surviving member of his immediate family.

The King County prosecuting attorney’s office also asked for the court to find probable cause for five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Early Monday morning, two adults and three teenagers were killed in a reported domestic violence shooting near Fall City.

Officials believe the victims and the teen in custody are “likely members of the same family, but their exact relationships are part of the investigation,” Brandyn Hull, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, told CNN.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the teen has not been formally charged with a crime.

“We are asking the court to order the media not to release our client’s name, as he is a juvenile and he has not been charged with a crime at this point,” said the teen’s defense attorneys Amy Parker and Molly Campera. “Regarding probable cause, we have received a 1-page document that outlines the allegations in this case. I would remind everyone that these are not proven facts, merely allegations, and the law presumes our client is innocent of these charges.”
