EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a confrontation with another motorist led to a shooting along the Border Highway last month, El Paso Police said.
Police said they have arrested 34-year-old Hector Zubia and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a bond of $250,000.
The alleged victim is a 19-year-old male, whom we are not identifying since he was the victim in this incident.
Police said that at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 6, they were called to the Border Highway for a reported shooting.
There, they met with Zubia who told police that another vehicle, later identified as the victim’s, struck his car at least twice.
Zubia allegedly told police that he fired his gun at the victim when the victim drove at him after both cars stopped along the Border Highway near the Paisano ramp.
Crimes Against Persons Unit took over the investigation and said they learned that Zubia’s story was not consistent with evidence at the scene.
